Such a loss. I spent a week at The Elizabeth Foundation in 2006 on a student placement whilst studying at the University of Worcester as I wanted to find out more about the work that goes on at the Elizabeth Foundation. I very much enjoyed my time there and found Shirley Metherell inspirational. My thoughts are with the family. She touched so many.

I could not have asked for anyone better to be my mentor and friend. Shirley was fun, ever passionate, positive and professional. Shirley is one of the most caring person I have met. Her dedication to the children and parents at the Elizabeth Foundation was wonderful to see. I shared an office next to her and witnessed the wonderful effect she had on parents immediately after their child had been diagnosed with a hearing impairment, they entered her office in tears and left with smile.
